have a cuppa?

Cup of tea, cup of tea..
hmm..

i love the maxis advertisement
when they say
lattecino
cappucino
or even a drop-pocino
and they drop the cup of coffee..
how canny can these advertising ppl get..

but im not here to talk about drinking lattes or moccas..
im here to ask..
What is your cup of tea?

Do you like it this way, or that way?
How do certain things speak to you?
would you choose this over that?
or neither?

recently, i have chatted with friends,
casually
about prayer and worship
and spiritual stuff..
and i find that our "tastes"
are so different..

itz funny to see
people with the same beliefs
so diverse
and so unlike in one manner,
yet in the same way,
practically human..

get what i mean?

im not sure when the Christian world
developed certain "tastes" or "cup of teas"
regarding things of the spirit?

A : i dont listen to that preacher no more, cause he's alwayz asking for offerings
B : same here. that preacher is alwayz asking us to commit our time for church work
C : you guyz dunknw the half of it..this preacher keeps asking us to pray,
like i dont have better things to do?!
A,B,C : ITZ JUST NOT OUR CUP OF TEA!

as a perfectly normal human,
when i hear that remark,
i wish to spank those ppl silly and send them back to sunday school..
=)

but as a perfectly saved Christian,
bound by grace,
i know better den to resort to such measures..XD

ever heard someone say to another
"Ah, but your cup of tea might not be my cup of tea"

ok,
i'll stop ranting bout tea and get to the point..

i dun understand..
i sometime fail to see the reason of such
rationalism..

to me,you cant rationalize with God,
you just cant..

how can our TASTES be different? WE SERVE THE SAME GOD!
oops, where did THAT come from?hehe

now,
im not pointing fingers
and im not talking bout ANYONE in particular..
if u feel offended,
probably itz coz itz meant for u..
hehehe..

i admit,
i havent read thru the bible,
but i cant seem to remember Jesus saying
"Go, do as you will, doing only what you like!"

i have had people come up to me and say,
"hmm, Marcus, i feel you are doing a good job
organising prayer meets here and there. and it really glorifies God!
but honestly, im not dat interested in prayer,
im more of worship and praising God..
prayer?nah..sorry"

i cannot begin to tell you,
when i hear that phrase,
hw much my heartbreaks..
you could have stabbed me in the gut,
and it wudnt have hurt that much..

im no saint..
and im not saying i am..
but imagine,
if i get hurt that much,
imagine the magnitude of how hurt God is..

i admit,
prayer wasnt always my "cup of tea"
but,
as i try to grow in the Lord,
and try to draw closer to Him..
i find that itz not so much what my "cup of tea" is anymore..

no,
itz not what so much what i desire anymore..
itz what the heart of the Father is..
and itz not easy,
all the sacrifices..
i fail miserably at times..
but God's grace just picks me up
and keeps me going..

in Phillipians 4:4-6,
Paul talks about 2 actions :
1. Rejoice
2. Pray

i have heard an entire
1 and half hour sermon
where the pastor,
who was from Phillipines, (only) said
PRAISE GOES 1st

and i agree..
but when you do something,
you dont just start and leave it hanging..
what is the 2nd step?

Prayer

yeah,
we know prayer is talking to God..
and we should pray everyday..
Prayer is not just talking to God..
itz COMMUNICATING..

you dun make a long distance call
dump all your worries on the friend
and den hang up..

NO..
you wanna hear from them too..
and thatz what we need to expect out of prayer..

we need to SPEAK to God,
but more importantly,
we need to HEAR from God..

and the bible tells us time and time again..
Draw close to God, and He will draw close to u..
you gotta make the 1st step,
God makes the rest..

so,
dun tell me
"im not into praying dat much"

for Someone who loved us soo much
that He sent His only Son to die for us..
He deserves every single minute of our time..

prayer is not boring..
with wadz going on in Kulim LYPG..
im amazed by the miracles prayer can achieve in His name..

...6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus...

what wonderful comforts we can find in prayer..
